Technical   

• Is your method of protection formulas secure?

The DoneEx XCell Compiler compiles all formulas from xls into binary format. For nowadays this method is the most secure. Even encoding with strong encryption algorithm is not so secure because you should provide decrypt key for user and since this moment your data are decrypted and available for everybody.

• My need is to protect the file with license keys: I don't need to mask the formulas.

The main goal of Excel file copy protection is to remove formulas from cells to make them unavailable to anyone. If the formulas are not really secured protected  then anyone who get permission to launch your model, (even if it was protected with password, license key and/or with hardware locking),  may copy all data and formulas (manually or using some Excel AddIn) into another unprotected workbook and use your model without any restrictions.

• Is it possible to extract the XLS file from the compiled EXE?

Yes, it is possible. Also you can find this file in temporary folder on you disk when compiled EXE is started. This xls file DOESN'T contain any formulas in cells. NONE OF THEM! This file is a data provider between compiled EXE and Excel. It is used to format calculated values and to reflect them into Excel. After compilation all xls formulas are stored in EXE file (in binary, unreadable format) but not in xls. You can try this file to figure out that it doesn't work as original xls.

• After compilation of the worksheet, what do I need to send to my customer?

You need not send the worksheet to the client. Send the compiled file (EXE or ZIP) only that will solve all the information security issues.

• I used some Add-Ins (XLA files) which are from other companies how will they run on my customer computer?

You should take permission from that company for free distribution of the third party Add-Ins.

• Does my customer have to install the Add-Ins (XLA files) included in my application?

Any Add-Ins which are supplied with Excel (ex: Analysis Tool Pack ) should be pre-installed on the end user computer. Any other simple Add-Ins which are present as .xll or .xla files will be automatically deployed by compiled EXE.

• How can I add my own company signature (Splash screen)?

You can select your company logo or any image that you want to represent your company while starting the application. Select this image in the Splash screen field while compiling the worksheet to EXE and click Compile.

• How does the product registration work?

Once the product is ordered, DoneEx will send you a registration file and the instructions for how to use it. This file will activate the product depending upon the license you bought.

• Once a spreadsheet is compiled, can the user save the spreadsheet under a new name, and then use the newly spawned spreadsheet?

If you will tie your compiled EXE file to target computer (feature of the Business Pro license) then your exe file will work on that computer only, even if it was saved with another name.

• Is it possible to compile with a hardware lock AND limit period usage?

You need to set "Apply license to Exe/Hardware locking" option "on", but the date limit you will set from registration key tool during regkey generation.

• Can it be possible for anybody to do the license/registration file for my compiled excel applications?

No, nobody can make license/registration file for your compiled excel files. The XCell Compiler program is designed such way that only you can do it on your 'DoneEx XCell Compiler' registered computers.

Install/UnInstall  

• How do I install the software?

The process is simple, just download the trial version and double click the XCell.exe. The installation will be completed with in a few seconds.

• How do I uninstall the software?

Go to Start -> All programs -> DoneEx -> XCell Compiler -> UnInstall.

An alternate method to uninstall XCell Compiler in the Windows Control Panel, select an option called "Add/Remove Programs." One of the options will be "XCell Compiler." Highlight this and click the "Change/Remove" button.

Updates  

• What are the terms of technical support and the product updates?

  With the SMALL BUSINESS and BUSINESS PRO licenses, you are granted a one-year period oftechnical support and the product updates from the date of purchase.Upon expiration, you can renew maintenance to obtain another year of technical support and updates.

  The term of renewed coverage begins from the date of renewal. There is no penalty for the late renewal.

  You may renew maintenance any time you want, before or after expiration, for as many years as you want at once, $40 for Small Business license, $60 for Business Pro license per year.
  If you do not renew maintenance period then you may stay with the latest version of the product which is covered by your latest maintenance period.You receive a new registration key for the license regardless of whether you renew maintenance or not.

• You must take care by yourself to have  the valid version in order to use a registration key obtained without a renewal.

• Where can I download the Updates?

• How can I update to the new version?

Please follow these steps:

1. Close the Excel if it is open.
2. Uninstall DoneEx XCell Compiler.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Download the file with installer.
5. Close the Excel if it is open.
6. Extract the EXE file from zip.
7. Run the extracted EXE file and follow the install wizard's instructions until installation process will be finished.
8. After installation, you need to recompile your files.

Trial Version  

Free trial version is completely functional for calculation.

• How long can I use the Trial Version?

The validity of the trial version is 30 days. After this validity period you must uninstall or register the product.

• What are the limitations of the Trial Version?
